THE VISIBILITY DOULA
For those of us with a social media phobia.
You already have the photographs. You already have the life. You already have something to say.
You just aren't sharing it.
- She may have thousands of photographs sitting on her phone.
- A beautiful life that barely appears online.
- A business or body of work that is far more interesting than her digital presence suggests.
- Half written captions she never publishes.
- Periods where she disappears for weeks or months.
She does not need more content.
She needs to learn how to see what she already has, shape it into a visual world, and become comfortable allowing other people to see it.
Visibility is the bridge between the life you are already living and the world actually seeing it.
Why I do this
Visibility has been one of the great struggles of my own life.
I understand what it is to want to be seen and simultaneously want to hide.
So this work is not about forcing someone to become more confident, pushing her to post, or manufacturing an online persona.
It is about creating enough safety for her to begin practicing visibility.
I stay very close in the beginning. And then, deliberately, I begin to step away.
Because the goal is not for her to become dependent on my eye.
The goal is for her to develop her own.
Three months, three movements
I hold your hand. We create the structure. We get confidence.
Weeks 1 and 2
TOGETHER
I do it with you.
We begin with a 90 minute private session to understand where you are, what you want to reveal, and what has been keeping you from sharing it.
Then we get to work.
Using the images you already have, we begin creating your visual world: learning how to choose, sequence and see your photographs differently.
We find your rhythm. We find your words. We create your first nine posts.
And then, we stop preparing to be visible.
We begin.
For ten working days, I stay close as you start sharing: five days together, a weekend to breathe, then five more.
Not because you need more content.
Because sometimes the hardest part isn’t creating something beautiful.
It’s letting it be seen.

The moment after posting
This is an important part of the work.
The difficulty often isn't creating the photograph.
It is what happens after she allows someone else to see it.
Suddenly:
I hate this photograph.
Nobody responded.
Maybe this caption is stupid.
This feels too personal.
I want to delete it.
Maybe I should wait.
Maybe I shouldn't be doing this at all.
This is why I stay close during the first ten working days.
We work with the resistance while it is actually happening.
Not theoretically.
In the moment when her instinct is to disappear.
Weeks 3 and 4
PRACTICE
I teach you how I see.
Now we turn toward your actual life.
We meet twice a week as I teach you to notice the images already happening around you: to recognize the light, the moment, the detail, the story.
You begin creating rather than searching for content.
The art is learning to see your own life.
Weeks 5 to 12
INDEPENDENCE
You begin to do it without me.
We move to weekly support.
- You choose.
- You photograph.
- You write.
- You share.
And little by little, I step back.
Not because the work is finished.
Because it is becoming yours.
Then you do it without me.
By the end of our three months together, I want her to understand:
- how to see her own visual world,
- how to choose images,
- how to create visual rhythm,
- how to write in her own voice,
- how to document her life,
- how to use the tools available to her,
- how to publish without turning every post into an existential decision,
- and how to continue without me.
The goal is not for you to become better at being seen by me.
The goal is for you to no longer need me in order to be seen.
Two different doors
The Unveiling
It begins with me seeing her.
An immersive, in person experience involving ceremony, adornment, Shloaka, photography and the creation of a new visual body of work. Then I remain with her for eight weeks as she brings that woman into the world.

She already has the life. She already has the work. She already has imagery.
We begin with what already exists. There is no destination experience. There is no primary professional photoshoot. There is no Shloaka adornment experience.
It is about teaching her to work with what she already has, and then teaching her how to continue creating it herself.
